Vietnamese beauty secures second place at Miss Earth 2023



Drita Ziri, 18, an Albanian television host and model, became the first Albanian to win the prestigious Miss Earth title.


The young girl, standing at 1.70 metres tall with body measurements of 85-62-99 cm, previously won the Miss Earth Albania 2023 and was the second runner-up at Miss Globe 2022.


The pageant also awarded several titles to other contestants, including Yllana Aduana of the Philippines, who was crowned Miss Earth Air, Do Thi Lan Anh of Vietnam, who received the title of Miss Earth Water, and Cora Bliault of Thailand, who was named Miss Earth Fire.


The Vietnamese beauty, Lan Anh, was also honored with the Best Appearance award and won the Best National Costume sub-title.


Lan Anh, 26, currently resides in the United States and stands at 1.71 meters tall with body measurements of 85-60-95 cm. She left her hometown at the age of one to move to Europe before settling down in the US with her family. She was crowned Miss Earth Vietnam 2023 and represented the country at the Miss Earth 2023 pageant.


The finalists of Miss Earth 2023 looked graceful during an Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) performance in the grand final.


This is the second time the country has hosted the prestigious global pageant, following the 2010 edition.

Vietnam discovers 2,000-year-old stringed instrument

Discovered along the Mekong River in southern Vietnam, the 2,000-year-old instrument resembles a single-stringed harp and may have been an ancestor to the complex musical instruments people still plucked today in Vietnam, according to UK-based science website IFLScience . The artifact consists of a 35-centimeter piece of deer antler with a hole at one end for a peg, which was likely used to tune the string. The antler most likely came from a Sambar deer or an Indian hog deer, two species native to mainland Southeast Asia. While the string seems to have eroded away long ago, the instrument features a bridge that was perhaps used to support the string. Lead researcher and Ph.D. student Fredeliza Campos from the Australian National University said the artifact is at least 2,000 years old — dating back to Vietnam’s pre-Oc Eo culture along the Mekong River, which is exceptionally early for this kind of instrument. Vietnam Streamlines Trade with Cambodia

The Vietnamese Government has issued Decree 5/2024/ND-CP, which includes special preferential import tariffs for Cambodian goods. This is part of the implementation of the bilateral trade promotion agreement for the 2023-2024 period, as reported by VNA.
